Jessie Mae Williams Howell

Jessie Mae Williams Howell, 88, went to be with the Lord on August 29th. She was the daughter of the late Mamie Marie Craig Williams and the late James H. Williams, Sr. Jessie was preceded in death by her husband of almost 50 years, Clyde Eugene (Gene) Howell Sr. and her older sister Mamie Lucille Williams Owens older brother James H. “Bud” Williams Jr. and younger brothers Samuel Williams, Paul Ray Williams and infant brother Eugene. She is survived by three sisters; Muriel Vinson and husband Bobby of Victoria MS, Dorothy Witton of Barton MS, and Sarah Williams of Memphis, her longtime caregiver. Jessie is also survived by two brothers: William Thomas Williams and wife Doris of Leslie, AR, and John W. Williams and wife Yvonne of Cedar Hill TN. Two children, Clyde Howell Jr. and Christy of Springfield Mo and Nancy Howell Bravender and husband Robert of Johnson City TN. Jessie and Gene had seven grandchildren: Bailey, Dean and Chesney Howell and Katie, Scott, Michelle and Morgan Bravender. In addition, many nieces grand-nieces and nephews and grand-nephews survive Mrs. Howell. Jessie attended Capleville Elementary and graduated from Whitehaven High School. She worked at Sears Crosstown for 14 years. She was a member of the Germantown Methodist Church for 47 years. The family would like to thank Trinity Hospice for their excellent care of Jessie the last few months. In addition, we would like to thank Mrs. Beverly Rhodes for her help over the past six years with both Jessie and Gene. The family will receive friends from 3-6 p.m. Sunday, September 1.
