

Jimmie Carolyn Ware Harbert passed away September 14, 2023 peacefully surrounded by family at Ciel Senior Living of Collierville (formerly The Langford of Collierville). The family wishes to express their thanks and gratitude to the staff of Ciel and Crossroads Hospice for the tremendous care and friendships during her time there.
She was born in Memphis, TN on December 3, 1941. Carolyn was a 1959 graduate of St. Thomas High School and a graduate of UTHSC Physicians’ Assistant Program. During her years of school, she was a Cotton Carnival Princess, a Spelling Bee Champion and a recipient of the Betty Crocker American Homemaker of Tomorrow Award. She had a strong Catholic faith and was a member of St. Joseph, Holy Spirit, OLPH and Church of the Incarnation parishes.
She was a member of American Association of Medical Assistants. After spending her career primarily at Associated Urologists, she retired and managed medical billing for several doctors. She loved Bubba her husband of 62 years, and her family. She was always involved with the St. Joseph’s School where Mark and Brent attended. She spent her time watching her grandchildren grow up and attended many functions of their many activities. She loved all the dogs that Bubba and she had their entire lives, from Dinky to Pippa. She enjoyed curling up with a book, a Diet Pepsi, a good Hallmark or Lifetime movie and catching up with lifelong friends. She touched and impacted many lives throughout her life and even in her later years despite her limited mobility.
She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Rhodes “Bubba” Harbert who passed away earlier this year, her father John Elem Ware and her mother Tennie Estelle Capps. Carolyn is survived by her sons Mark (Beth), Brent (Kim), her 5 grandchildren, Carter (Christy), Abbey, Jeremy, Allison, Anna and her niece Rhonda DeBoer.
Visitation will be held at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave, Memphis TN on Monday, October 16th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. A short visitation will also be held on Tuesday, October 17th beginning at 10:00 AM at Church of the Incarnation, 360 Bray Station, Collierville TN. A Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 AM. After the service, please join the family for a celebration of Carolyn’s life in the fellowship hall, lunch will be provided.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and American Lung Association.
