

Age 74, passed away on Nov. 18, 2017 at home with family by her side, in Memphis, TN.
Jinxiang Deng was born in Guilin, Guangxi, China on Oct. 15, 1943 to Tingxian Deng and Xuemei Hu. She was the middle child with 2 older brothers and 2 younger sisters. She attended and earned the Medical Doctor degree from the Guangxi Medical School in 1970. She practiced medicine at the Guilin Regional People’s Hospital for 22 years and became the Department Chief in Internal Medicine department. She was known to her colleagues and patients as a compassionate and caring physician. She was well respected and won multiple awards and recognitions by Guangxi Health Bureau and many medical organizations and associations during her medical career.
She married Liangqing Chen in 1972. Later she immigrated to Santa Barbara, CA with her family in 1992, then moved to and settled down in Memphis, TN in 1993. Unable to practice medicine in the U.S., she worked for William Sonoma from 1994 until 2015.
She was known to her family, friends, and colleagues as an extremely hard worker who never complains, and was willing to take on any tasks. She was also a very giving person and welcomed anyone to her home or generously donated money and things in time of needs. Her favorite hobby was to grow a vegetable garden in the backyard of her house.
Jinxiang Deng is survived by her Husband Liangqing Chen of Memphis; 2 sons, Hai Henry Chen of Orange County, CA, Jiang John Chen of Lakeland, TN; 4 grand children, Jessica, Alex, Ian and Mia; 2 brother, Rongbao Deng and Ronghua Deng of Guilin, China; 2 sisters, Yaxiang Deng of Guilin, China, and Rongzhen Deng of Memphis.
Visitation will take place between 3-6pm on Nov. 22nd, and the Funeral Service will take place at 10am on Nov. 25th at the Family Funeral Care at 4925 Summer Ave. Memphis, TN 38122, Reception follows right after the Funeral Service at the same location.
In keeping with Jinxiang’s giving spirit, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Lakeland Education Foundation, or Greater Memphis United Chinese Association.
