
Joan Louise Boyd, 84, of Memphis, TN, passed away at Kirby Pines on February 3, 2011. Joan is survived by her husband of over 64 years, Martin Vernon Boyd, and their 4 daughters: Linda (Bob) Pineo, Leslie Boyd, Gretchen (Mike) Mattingly, and Kim (Allen) Chapman. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Mabel Gross, and daughter Karen Louise Boyd. She leaves 6 grandchildren, Cynthia and Richard Pineo, Kristen and Catherine Mattingly, and Hannah and Kelsey Chapman, as well as two great-grandchildren, Sabine and Oliver Pineo. She was a long-time member of Ascension Lutheran Church.
Those who knew Joan will remember her home making skills (sewing, cooking, and competently running a household of 7 people, with no outside help; her faithful support of the Lutheran Church through tithing, assisting with Vacation Bible School, the Altar Guild, embroidering church hangings and many other activities; her excellent secretarial skills (she worked for the IRS for many years); and, above all, her kindness and attention to all she met and her love and devotion to her family.
