
Joan graduated from Central High School in 1957 and was a member of Temple Israel. She worked for many years in finance at several banks and financial institutions in Memphis. She later built and owned Poplar Pike Liquors, guiding it with care until her retirement.
Joan found great enjoyment in the company of others and the quiet pleasures of a well-lived life. She played Bridge in several local clubs and competed in both local and national tournaments. She was also an avid reader.
Joan was preceded in death by her son, Robert Goldstein; and her husband, Alexander Jekels.
She is survived by her sister, Leslie Worley of Houston, TX; her daughter, Jeri Goldstein Adair (Ricky) of Piperton, TN; her sons, Michael Goldstein (Sylvia) of Houston, TX, and Dr. Donald Goldstein of Germantown, TN; as well as 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held in the chapel of Magnolia Cemetery, located at 435 South Mount Pleasant Road, Collierville, Tennessee, on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM.
