

Joan French McKay was born on May 28, 1935, in Byhalia, Mississippi to Aubrey and Mauveline French. She passed away on December 15, 2025, at the age of 90. She was a resident of Memphis, Tennessee. Joan was a graduate of Byhalia High School where she was Valedictorian and played basketball. She graduated from the University of MS, with Bachelors of Science in Commerce.
She was a part of Phi Mu Sorority, Phi Gamma Nu (President), Epsilon Gamma Epsilon, and Intramural Queen. Joan was a member of Germantown United Methodist Church where she was a part of Gilbert Sunday School Class (President), Administrative Board, Trustees and Pre School Council. Joan retired from the Human Resources Department at First American Bank.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin; parents; brother, Robert French; and sister, Billie Horton. She is survived by her children; son, Kenneth McKay (Julie) of Bellaire, TX and daughter, Susan Biddy (Brad) of Roswell, GA; grandchildren, Drew (Shannon), Jack, and William McKay, Rachel (Brett), Will, and Shannon Biddy; and great grandchildren, Henry and Teddy McKay.
A memorial service will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 17, in the Chapel of Germantown Methodist Church, 2331 South Germantown Road, Germantown, TN.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be sent to Germantown United Methodist Church or the McKay Scholarship Fund at the University of Mississippi Foundation, 406 University Ave., Oxford, MS 38655.
