John Stevenson Allen, Sr., age 75, passed away on September 5, 2026, in his hometown of Memphis, Tennessee. Born on May 9, 1951, in Memphis, John lived a life filled with connection, warmth, and a deep appreciation for music, community, and family.
A proud graduate of White Station High School (Class of 1969), John went on to study mathematics at Memphis State University. His early career naturally combined his technical mind and love for sound, working in sales of audiophile equipment at Opus Two in Memphis. As technology evolved, John expanded his expertise into Macintosh computers and consulting, ultimately establishing his own successful computer consulting firm, where his clients included Elvis Presley Enterprises.
John was a man who loved meeting people, and he made it a point to brighten the days of those around him with a warm smile and a quick joke. He was a passionate lover of music, spending much of his time playing guitar and writing songs.
An avid tennis player, John turned his passion for the sport into a fulfilling second act after retiring from consulting by founding his racquet stringing business, John’s Custom Stringing. Above all, John cherished the simple joys of life—listening to music and spending quality time with his family and tennis friends.
John is survived by his loving wife, Beverly Bruch Allen; his son, John Stevenson Allen, Jr. (Audrey); his sister, Laura Allen Edwards; his grandchildren, Natalie Snyder, Piper Allen, and Jack Allen; and his great-grandchild, Gabriel Allen Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Clayton Allen and Ada Stevenson Allen.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 3 from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM, at the Royal Canal Room of Owen Brennan's, 6150 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in John's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
