John F. Gray

John Frederick Gray, 68, of Middleton, TN, passed into eternity on September 16, 2015 following complications from a stroke suffered in July. A native of Memphis, he was the son of the late A. Floyd Gray and Nancy Simmons Gray of Memphis, who survives. A combat veteran of the U.S. Army, he served as an infantry and military intelligence officer, receiving the Bronze Star and Purple Heart, and retired with the rank of Major. He was a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi and subsequently retired from Fedex Corporation as a manager. He also is survived by his brother Michael Gray of Memphis, sister Reba Clark of Memphis, brother Van and wife Ginger Gray of Memphis, son Towns and wife Teresa Gray of Memphis, son Taylor and wife Adrienne of Memphis, seven grandchildren, and a host of beloved friends and extended family. He was preceded in death by his sister Nancy Jeanine Gray. Visitation will be held Sunday, Sept. 20th 4pm-6pm followed by a funeral service Monday at 10am at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave.
