John Reuben Lovett (1939-2023) passed away at Baptist Hospital-Collierville on September 21, 2023. He was born is Shaw Mississippi, to Broughton and Mildred Lovett. John graduated from Wilson () High School, Ouachita Arkansas.
Baptist University, and The University of Rochester, NY, School of Nursing. He served in the US Navy for 22 years (1962-2004) and retired as a Lieutenant Commander. He married Annjanette (Angie) Emery on June 15, 1968. He was ordained a deacon at Marianas Baptist on Guam in 1970 and served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher in other Baptist churches where he was stationed. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Angie, a son Stephen Lovett (Shari) of Arcata, CA and a daughter, Rebecca Hope of Mesa, AZ. Six grandchildren, Kali Bernards (Dustin), Aiden and Bronwyn Lovett, Reid, Reagan & Rainey Hope, and two great-grandchildren, Kade & Piper Bernards. One brother, Jim Lovett(Carolyn), Lillbourn Mo, two nieces, Millie Lovett and Jamie Kimball and one great niece, Carly Kimball. Visitation and the funeral will be at Germantown Baptist Church (9450 Poplar Ave. Germantown TN) on Tuesday, September 26, 2023. Visitation from 12-2 and the funeral will be at 2:00 at in the Faith Building. He will be buried at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, at 1:00 on Wednesday, September 27.
