

John Anthony “Jack” Page Jr., 85, of Germantown passed away Saturday, December 10, 2016. Born in Chicago to John and Kathleen Page, Jack moved to Memphis in 1936, where he attended Messick High School, graduating in 1949. He attended Yale University and graduated in 1953. Jack served his country as a captain in the US Air Force and Air Force Reserves until 1965. His 59-year marriage to Manette L. Williams produced two children: John A “Tony” Page III and Monica Page Morris.
An avid lover of theater and music, Jack performed in over 100 plays with Memphis Little Theatre, Theatre Memphis, and Harrell Theatre in Collierville. Talented in both singing and acting, he played the part of the king in “The King and I,” as well as roles in “Fiddler on the Roof” and many other productions. An active member of the Memphis Symphony Orchestra Chorus, he also performed in Opera Memphis productions.
Jack enjoyed his membership in the British Car Club and the Memphis Radio-Controlled Airplane Club. He retired from Buckeye Cellulose in 1993, after working nearly 40 years in various managerial and sales positions.
Preceded in death by his wife, he is survived by his children as well as by two grandchildren, Jillian Page and Capt. Trey Morris; his sisters, Shirley Johnston and Carolyn Morris; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Funeral visitation will occur Saturday, December 17, at noon at St. George’s Episcopal Church, 2425 S. Germantown Road, with services following at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be directed to St. George’s Episcopal Church or to another deserving charity.
