Johnny was born on August 30, 1936 in Sardis, TN to Lynn and Annie (Pitts) Powell. On June 14, 1958 he married Patsy (Irons)Powell, recently having celebrated 60 years of marriage. He served in the army and was stationed in Korea from 1962-1965. He retired from Manville Forrest Products as supervisor. He was a member at Agape Baptist Church.
Johnny loved working and spending time in his yard, and he took great pride in keeping it perfectly manicured. He enjoyed passing his indoor time with a cup of coffee and his word find puzzles. Johnny and Patsy longed for children. After ten years of marriage they were able to adopt their son Tim...five months later finding out they were pregnant with Todd.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Flora Mae Jones and Louise Powell Grooms, and brother James Mackee Powell. He is survived by his wife Patsy, his two sons Todd, Tim (wife Kim), and grandchildren Brooke and Kendall Powell, and sister Jo Ann Ivy.
The family will receive friends Thursday, January 24th from 4-6pm at Family Funeral Care. The funeral services will be Friday, January 25th at 10am at Family Funeral Care. The burial will take place at Milledgeville Cemetery in Milledgeville, TN.
