Memaw. Been almost a year. I miss cutting your grass and the hotdog sandwiches. I miss the smell of your house and the kiss and hug when I left. I miss the birthday cards that came for the past 45 years. I miss your smile and bright eyes. All these things I miss but, carry with me forever.

My deepest sympathy to you and your family.  Miss Jo was very dear to me.   I so looked forward to getting her funny e-mails and updates and we would always sit together at WKNO volunteering to answer telephones and talking endlessly about all of our beloved cats and their sweet antics.  I feel so blessed having known and loved Miss Jo.  My prayers are with the family.  Terri Warner

Jo was a friend of my dad Jack Rogan, Humes classmate.  She was an inspiration to me with her energy and active life.  Jo faithfully called me about getting with some of the Humes graduates for lunch at Jack's barbecue. Dad and I went often and took my aunt Anna Ruth Rogan Brown class of 38 with us on occasion.  I loved Jo.  My husband and I went to the Orphuem the other night and I asked one of the ushers if they knew her and they did and spoke so highly of her.  She will be missed by so many.  My dad died in April, 2010, and my mom Freda Harrison Rogan, Humes class of 42  (43?) died last July, '12.  Nancy Rogan Ransom

Last night at Theatre Memphis, I learned of Jo's passing.  What a huge loss to Memphis - she was a precious lady and i'm glad I had the pleasure of being associated with her through the theatre.  Her family has my deepest sympathy.

Jo was a true Southern lady of grace. She exhibited a deep love for family and friends. She contributed with joy to her community with many years of volunteer work. I cherish her memory.

My heart was saddened to hear of Mrs. Jo's passing; she was absolutely the most wonderful person in the world!  I thank the Lord above that I was blessed enough to have met her and was able to spend time with her.  Every time I saw her, we would hug each other tightly!  She volunteered with me at MIM and I am going to miss her greatly!  Thoughts and prayers to her family.

Marian and I have always felt very privileged to have known Jo over the years. As I told her recently, we will always look for her at the Cannon Center, remembering her wonderful giving spirit and her wonderful love for people and the arts in Memphis.

Jo Wood was a truly beautifull person with such a big heart.  
 I worked with her some years ago at The Orpheum Theatre. We stayed in touch by exchanging cards. deepest sympathy to the family.

Jo was a wonderful person and I am truly blessed to have known her.  She was so inspiring, loving and I learned so much from her.  I used to tell her, "Miss Jo, when I grow up I want to be like you!"  And she gave such wonderful hugs!  Heaven gained a wonderful lady and soul and I am sure the Good Lord has already told her, "Well done, good and faithful servant; Welcome Home".  She will be missed but she will go on forever in our hearts.

A beautiful lady has entered the gates of Heaven.  It was such a pleasure to usher with her at the Orpheum Theater and the Cannon Center for the Performing Arts.  My deepest sympathy to Jo's family and friends.  She will be greatly missed by so many.

Jo Wood was an amazing woman, very invested in the Memphis Community and a true role model for many, including me. She did a lot for the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art, for years, she volunteered at the Brooks and made a difference in the arts. We love you and will always remember you.

Mrs. Wood was simply a delightful lady to spend time with.  Her energy and caring spirit served as examples to all of us and her sunny smile will be greatly missed.  We lift our prayers for the family and rejoice that Heaven got a little brighter when Miss Jo arrived!

In her modest way, Jo Wells Wood was one of the leading lights of Memphis.  She and Fritz were stalwarts of the Tropical Fish Society, and when my family started to usher at the Orpheum, she was one of the people who trained us.  Wherever we went to the theater or the Symphony, she was always there, helping out.  A kind, friendly, gracious lady -- she will be missed.  My deepest sympathy to all her many family members -- I'm sure she leaves many good memories behind.

Your Grand mother was a wonderful Lady and I will always remember that her and mom were very good friends. I am so sorry for your loss. Love Aunt Shirley

She will make a magnificent Angel!  I will miss her at all our Usher Venues!  May you find Peace in the days ahead.

Mrs. Jo as we called her at the Orpheum will be truly missed. We would always greet with a smile and a hug. She was a beautiful person. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.

My Grandma Purple was the most amazing women I have ever known. She taught me by example how to give back to others as well as to love unconditionally.  She will be missed in my heart and in my life.  We may be sad at her leaving us, but Heaven rejoices!

Mrs. Wood was a lovely lady who epitomized grace and kindness. Her devotion to her family, her community and her friends will be remembered for many years to come. She made a lasting impression on all of those who were fortunate enough to have met her. She will be greatly missed.

What an amazing lady! Aunt Jo was an example of love all her life! So thankful I got to know and love her! May her family take comfort from her legacy of self less service!
