Joyce was born in Tishomingo County, Mississippi on October 7, 1932 to Estes Monroe Moore and Emma Mae Frederick Moore. She graduated from Jumpertown High School in 1952 and married her high school sweetheart Tolbert W. Morris. They were married for sixty three years, until he passed in 2015.
Joyce was a former member of Colonial Park United Methodist Church. She was a member of United Methodist Women and the Fidelis Class. She was a bookkeeper for Morris Plumbing and Heating Company and a homemaker. Joyce was an avid reader, who loved to travel, work in the church, and spend time with her family.
Joyce is survived by her two children, Wayne (Beth) Morris of Germantown, Tennessee and Marsha (David) Gantner of Collierville, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Jason Morris, Jannae Morris, Rachel (Spencer) Meekhof , Sarah Gantner; two great grandchildren, Sophie Meekhof and Lainey Meekhof. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tolbert W. Morris; her parents, Estes and Emma Moore and her sister, Helen Shelton.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026 from 9 am until 11 am. Funeral service will follow at 11 am all at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee 38119. Interment will be in Booneville City Cemetery in Boneville, Mississippi.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to First Methodist Church in Collierville, Tennessee, the ALS Foundation, or the charity of donor's choice.
