Born in LaGrange, Georgia, Judy spent her childhood living all over the world. Her family followed her Father, Master Sergeant James Embrey, to Japan, Germany, and bases all over the United States. She graduated high school in 1961 from Pemberton Township High School in Pemberton Township, New Jersey. She elected to stay in New Jersey to finish school after her family had been reposted to Columbus, Georgia. She moved home and began work at Woolworth's as a secretary. She entered the Miss LaGrange Pageant in 1963. Her talent was "reading". She met her husband, Joel Dan Lesley, in high school and they were married in 1964. They moved to Memphis in the late 1960's. Judy helped Dan open their business, Lesley & Associates, and worked there in different capacities until he retired. Dan passed away one year to the day before her. She was an active member of the Germantown Community Theatre Guild and P.E.O. International.
Judy leaves behind two daughters, Joelle Dodge and Rebecca Lesley-Paulk, and two grandchildren, Jane Dodge and Gabe Paulk. We also ask that charitable donations be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation or P.E.O. International.
A memorial service for Judith will be held Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38119.
