On the anniversary of D-Day, June 6, 2020, June Dickson stormed the gates of heaven and gained her place in the long promised home in glory. She carried many wounds from her 83 years of living, including a bum leg, a blind eye, kidneys that did not work and many other minor injuries. However, until her last breath, her mind was sharp and she was still making plans and setting goals.Born in Washington, DC, to Pauline and Ken Barrick, she grew up Arlington,VA, along with her two sisters Dorothy and Kathy.
Adventure would call her early in life and she would move to Heidelberg, Germany on assignment with the government. It was there she would meet and fall in love with a young Army Corporal named, Lebert Dickson. They were married in Basel, Switzerland and at her passing were only six days short of their 61st anniversary.Only one child was born to the union, daughter Paula Dickson, but that did not limit the size of her family. Friends often found themselves adopted by “Mom and Pop” and there was always love enough for any who darkened her door.
She served as a Sunday School teacher for over 32 years and influenced generations about the amazing God she served and His wonderful Son, Jesus. She loved to travel and thought it best to view the beauty of creation from the front seat of a mini-van or SUV. Many will remember her for her infectious laugh and her quiet wisdom.
She leaves behind her husband Lee, daughter Paula, sister Dot Eaton (Frank), in-laws Marie and Earl Rhodes, Sue and Royal Dickson, and Jerry White, along with numerous nieces, nephews and all those adopted into the family.
A committal service for June will be held Monday, June 22, 2020 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 4000 Forest Hill Irene Rd., Memphis,, TN 38125.
