June Tanner Smith

June Tanner Smith, 80, of Memphis, passed away peacefully January 26, 2013, at the home of her daughter, surrounded by family. Born in Brighton, TN on June 3, 1932, Ms. Smith was the fourth child of the late Alfred Leo Tanner and Sallie Maye Tanner. She retired from S. Fargotstein and Sons Jewelers and had worked for many years at Merle Norman Cosmetics. In addition to her parents, Ms. Smith was preceded in death by her son, Gary Glynn Smith; her sisters, Jeanne Tanner Brown, and Kathryn Tanner Jorgensen; and her brother, Robert H. Tanner. She is survived by her daughter, Dixie L. Lomax (Terry); her sister, Ann Tanner Morehead; her grandson, Robert Glenn Smith (Kelly); two great grandchildren, Robert Glenn Smith, Jr. and Aubrey Ann Smith; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, and funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, January 31, both at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Avenue. Interment will follow at R.H. Munford Cemetery in Covington, TN.
