Kenneth Roy Sigman, 96, of Memphis, passed Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Baptist Memorial East. Ken was born on April, 8, 1922, in Water Valley to the Eugene A. and Hattie M. Sigman. He was a World War II Marine Corps veteran who enlisted on Sept. 17, 1942, with his older brother Ed and the well-known, USMC Memphis Rebels; having fought at Iwo Jima he was awarded a Bronze Star. After the Marine Corps, he joined the Tennessee Highway Patrol where he received many awards; he went on to become a salesman at Pryor Oldsmobile where he worked for 35 years before retiring to spend time with his lovely wife, Katheryn. He was a great warrior for Christ, a great uncle, Husband, provider and an inspiration. He was a member of the Mullins United Methodist Church for many years and attended regularly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Kathryn, sister, Faye McRell and brothers Edwin and Norwood. He is survived by his niece, Geneva McRell Martin of Memphis and nephews, Jack Sigman of Alabama, Edwin Sigman of Texas, Steven Sigman of Tennessee.
The family will receive friends on Friday December 21, 2018 from 5-7 p.m., funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 22 at 2 p.m.; all at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest next to his wife Katheryn.
