Kristin Clay Dunavant, age 40, of Memphis, Tennessee, passed away peacefully into God’s arms on Friday, November 17, 2023 at her childhood home after a 3-year battle with cancer. She was born in Memphis, Tennessee on February 10, 1983. She is a graduate of Hutchison school where she was a gifted athlete and student. She attended the University of Mississippi where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. She attended the University of Memphis Law School and was an accomplished corporate attorney with Bass, Berry, and Sims. Kristin enjoyed spending time with her many friends and sorority sisters, who were a great comfort and joy to her.
She leaves behind her parents, Dr. William David Dunavant Jr. and Martha Deweese Dunavant; her brothers, Dr. David Dunavant III (Shannon), Michael Dunavant (Julie), and Jonathan Dunavant; her nieces, Dylan, Weezie, Grace Anne, and Elizabeth; and nephews, Haygood and Mack along with countless beloved friends and colleagues. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Dr. William David Dunavant Sr. and Dora Dunavant and Dee Deweese and Teen Deweese.
Kristin was a role model for her family members, and uplifted everyone around her simply due to the aura she emitted. To know her was to know unwavering love, kindness, and selflessness despite the situation she was given. She was unbelievably talented in all facets of her life, yet defined the word humble. We may all now stand taller knowing she is watching us from above. We will all remember the beautifully strong spirit that she was, knowing that she will remain in our hearts and minds forever. We will forever miss her beautiful sweet soul and her brave fighting spirit. Rest in peace, sweet girl.
Services for Kristin will be held on Monday, November 20 with visitation at 10:00 AM and the funeral service at 11:30 AM, at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38119. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, November 22, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Memorial Park South Woods, 5485 Hacks Cross Rd, Memphis, TN 38125.
