

Born in Adamsville, TN, he was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow (“Red”) and Ilene Garrison, and his loving wife of 55 years, Judy.
Larry, a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather was a Navy veteran, an original crew member (“plankowner”) of the USS Kitty Hawk; a welder and mechanic, he worked as a millwright for Sealtest and retired as an Electrical Planner & Estimator for the US Naval Support Activity (Millington). He was known widely as an expert builder of antique cars, renowned for his generosity, wide-ranging skill, and infectious smile, and he was a long-standing member of Hickory Withe Baptist Church.
He leaves a son, Greg (Vicki) Garrison (Olive Branch, MS), and a daughter, Regina (Kevin) Thompson (Naperville, IL). In addition, Larry leaves four grandchildren, Geoffrey (Emily) Garrison, April (Brad) Rutland, Ethan (Keri) Thompson, and Emma Thompson, three great-grandsons, Gatlin and Gannon Garrison, and Cayden Rutland, and one great-granddaughter, Marlee Rutland. He also leaves his sister, Judy (Harold) English, his brother, David (Rana) Garrison, and his loving companion, Helen Austin.
His visitation will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Hickory Withe Baptist Church from 11-12pm with services to follow at 12pm. Memorials may be made to Hickory Withe Baptist Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
