Larry Ross Thornton, 76, of Millington, passed away Sunday August 24, 2014. Mr. Thornton was a veteran of the US Navy as well as the US Air Force, and was an avid golfer. He was preceded in death by his parents, C.H. Thornton and Tommie Neal Ellis, as well as three brothers, Thomas M. Ellis, Jerry J. Ellis, and Terrance C. Ellis. He is survived by the mother of his children, Roseanne Thornton, one daughter, Kristi Cobb (Kevin), one son, Sam Thornton, three sisters, Shirley Embrey, Mary Lee Wooten, and Virgina Wooten, as well as two brothers, Michael Ellis and Richard Ellis. He also leaves behind 4 grandchildren, Jacob Haley, Haley Hays, India Haley, and Eli Cobb, and one great-grandson, Ryan Helbling. The family will receive friends from 5-6pm on Thursday August 28, 2014 and a Memorial Service will follow at 6pm, all at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Ave. Memphis.
