Larry was born on January 8th in Memphis, Tennessee. He attended Vanderbilt High and played Guard in football onto graduate in 1958. After graduation he joined the Army. He worked at Valero Oil Refinery where he retired.
Larry was a very entertainingly outspoken and likable man that had no enemies. He was a talented Golfer and played with his lifelong friends like Eddie Todd, Coach and more and was even a dedicated Marshall at Wedgewood and North Creek Golf courses for many years. He was a loving life mate to Patsy Griffin and an amazing father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather for many years. His family and friends meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often talked about. Anyone who knew Larry knew he was the most loving jovial man anyone could ask for.
He is survived by his Life-Mate Patricia (Patsy /Teddy-Bear) Griffin, Bonus Kids – Lee & Vicki Griffin, Mark & Peggy Griffin, Randy & Laura Guthrie, Todd Griffin Sr & Kala Scott, Grand babies -Justin & Jessica Easley, Todd Jr. & Victoria Griffin, Scott Griffin, Robert Griffin, Austin and Hannah Griffin, Mathew and Hannah Griffin, Great Grands - Leena Griffin, Laynie Easley, Harper Griffin, Liam Leyva, Navie Griffin, Miley Griffin, Mason Griffin, River Wade, Cousin – Lawrence & Jamie Thompson
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, October 12, 2026, from 1 PM followed by a funeral service at 2 PM all at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee. Burial will be in Memphis Memory Gardens, Memphis, Tennessee.
