Born in Cook County, Illinois on August 09, 1941, Leonard lived a boisterous life for 79 years until passing peacefully from this earth on September 14, 2020. Preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Dorothy, he is survived by his wife of 32 years, Sharon Taube, sons Benjamin (Nora) Taube, Greg (Rachel) Phelps, Jeffrey Conrad, Mike (Joanie) Taube, Robbie (Tammy) Stirn, daughters Kelly (Rodney) Warner, Jennifer Malone, Charlotte (Rick) Horwitz, grandchildren Ashley (Jeremy) Mulinix, Kelsey Love, Coby Abbenante, Maggie Malone, Josh Stirn, Ryan Stirn, Rebecca Phelps, Jacob Phelps, and Laura Phelps, great-grandchild Westin Taube, his sister Darlene Meals, and brothers David Taube and Keith Taube. Known as “Leo” by all who loved him, he always had a joke, tease, or dance move to put a smile on anyone’s face.
Leo started working at 13 and didn’t stop until he was 75. He loved spending time with his family, going out to eat, and traveling. His family feels a profound sadness with his passing but takes comfort in the fact that he’s off painting everything “sky blue yellow” and making new friends with his old jokes.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 17, 2020 at 10:00 am with Pastor Emily Matheny officiating. Online condolences can be made at www.dignitymemorial.com.
