

Leonora Kay Phillips Harris died on Saturday, February 21st, 2015 at the age of 69. Kay was born March 18th, 1945 in Birmingham, England, and later moved with her parents and three siblings to the United States, graduated from Millsaps College, and relocated to Memphis, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Samuel Phillips and Phyllis Joan Phillips, and by her sister, Wendy Phillips Bourque. She is survived by her two daughters, Alexis Rae Harris, Alexis’ partner Shonda Maness, and Paige Harris Harvey, Paige’s husband Brit and their three children, Paden, Izabella, and Olivia. She is also survived by her sister Joanne Phillips Whalen and husband Tim, brother, Bill Phillips and wife Theresa, her many close nieces and nephews, her aunt Carol, and extended family, all of whom were dearly loved. Kay’s world revolved around her family and this also included her work-family, church-family, and her adored giant schnauzer, Jasmine. Kay generously poured time and love into all of her families, and she got great joy from sharing home-cooked meals at home, work, and church and organizing holiday celebrations and outings for her family. Kay was Senior Vice President of Regions Insurance Services, where she was dedicated to her coworkers and customers. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, where she served on the vestry and enjoyed organizing the book sale. She was always busy and active in body and mind. She never sat still, walked like most of us run, loved taking Pilates twice a week, working in her garden, and diving into one project after another. Her creativity shown through in her cooking, her handmade jewelry, and her love for scouring arts festivals near and far for the perfect unique gifts for the people she loved. There will be a gathering of friends Wednesday at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Ave. from 6 to 8 pm with a Memorial Service being held Thursday at 2 pm at Church of the Good Shepherd, 1971 Jackson Ave. Donations in memory of Kay may be made to the Church Health Center and the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Memphis, TN.
