

Lora Quay Wester was born April 12, 1927, in Lynn, Alabama, and died June 21, 2026, at the age of 99. A resident of Memphis, Tennessee, she will be remembered with deep respect and enduring affection by all who had the privilege to know her.
Throughout her life, Quay was beloved for a steady compassion and a kind-hearted presence that made others feel seen and cared for. Her generosity was expressed not only in what she gave, but in the constancy with which she showed up for people, offering help, warmth, and quiet strength.
She was a longtime employee at the old Wilson's Cafe on Broad Avenue, where her dedication and reliability were well known. In retirement, she sold Jafra Cosmetics, continuing a life marked by diligence and an open, giving spirit.
Quay was an avid seamstress and crafter, bringing patience and care to the work of her hands. She volunteered countless hours at the Tennessee Baptist Children's Home and with the Baptist Women's Auxiliary at Baptist Memorial Hospital. She was also very active in the Internationals at Audubon Park Baptist Church, where she and her husband were charter members—faithfully investing her time and heart in the life of the church and its community.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Wester, and her siblings.
A visitation will be held on Friday, June 26 from 1:00 PM until the funeral service at 2:00 PM, at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119. Interment will immediately follow at Memphis Memory Gardens, 6444 Raleigh Lagrange Road, Memphis, TN 38134.
The family requests memorial donations be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Le Bonheur Children's Hospital.
