Loren S. Sparks

Loren Stanley Sparks, 85, passed away March 4, 2015 at Baptist Hospital. He was born in New Kennsington, PA; was a veteran of the US Navy; a former shoes salesman; and had retired from Delta Foremost Chemical after 50 years of devoted service. He was a 32 Degree Mason, a member of the Al Chymia Shrine, and an avid boater and traveler. He was preceded in death by his parents, Manny and Gertrude Sparks, his wife, Barbara Shapiro Sparks and a sister, Lois Sparks Zellner. He is survived by two daughters, Yvonne Sparks Levine (Paul) of Germantown, TN and Lynn Sparks Sutherland of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Mindy Levine Hughes of Germantown, TN, Megan Levine Ferran (Max) of Mandeville, LA and Jacob Sutherland of Seymour, TN, and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Sparks will be Sunday, March 8, at 1 p.m. at Levy Cooper Chapel in Temple Israel Cemetery, 1708 Hernando Road, Memphis, TN 38106. Gifts in memory of Mr. Sparks may be offered to the Shrine Hospital or donor’s choice. Online condolences may be expressed at
