Luther Stokes Carlock, age 93, passed away December 5, 2020. He was born July 3, 1927 in Bethany, Mississippi to Ed Orville Carlock and Georgia Wilma Bishop Carlock. He enlisted in the U.S. Army immediately following World War II. He retired from First Tennessee Bank after working 39 years in the maintenance department. He was a member of LaBelle Haven Baptist Church where he loved singing in the Joy Choir and Worship Choir.
He was preceded death by his parents; wife, Leoda; and brother, Edward Carlock. He is survived by his three daughters, Debbie Brazelton, Vanessa McCullough (David), and Felicia Feathers (Wade); seven grandchildren, Bryan Brazelton (Melissa), Shawn Brazelton, Angela Goode (Paul), Joy Bermudez (Brian), Brad McCullough (Michelle), Jennifer Carranza (Harvey), and Brandon Feathers (Amanda); 16 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Helen Menotti, Jewel Dixon, Betty Dunaway, and Linda Faye Herndon.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 11 from 12:00-1:00 PM and funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, all at LaBelle Haven Baptist Church, 4800 Highway 305 North, Olive Branch, Mississippi. Burial will immediately follow in Memphis Memory Gardens, 6444 Raleigh Lagrange Rd, Memphis, Tennessee. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent to the Building Fund at LaBelle Haven Baptist Church.
