As a child, he was a member of Smothers Chapel CME Church, where he confessed his belief in Christ.
Mahannah was a four-year Naval Veteran. He was employed with the U.S. Postal Service for 34½ years until retirement.
Mahannah will be forever remembered for his adventurous spirit. He was an avid skydiver, cave diver, and scuba diver. He also enjoyed riding around the neighborhood in his go-cart. He loved playing Call of Duty online with his son, Garvin, and friends. Mahannah also enjoyed traveling and took great pride in caring for his lawn. He was considered a computer and electronic whiz among friends.
Mahannah departed this life on Saturday, July 4, 2020, in Memphis, Tennessee.
He leaves to cherish his memories, a son, Garvin (Lisa) Jones-Pipkin of Oakland, Tennessee; daughter, Kristy (Royce) Pipkin-Liston of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Miranda Miller of Memphis, Tennessee, (legally adopted by Mr. Miller); one sister, Sylvia (Lester) Jefferies of Memphis, Tennessee; one brother, Nathaniel C. Pipkin of Jacksonville, Florida; one uncle, Hosea Pipkin of Memphis, Tennessee; ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
