

Margaret Davis Burnett, 89, of Memphis, TN went home to be with the Lord on August, 26, 2016, at Baptist Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family. She was the second of seven girls born to Daniel P. and Alma Davis on December 6, 1926, in Faulkner, MS. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Sringfellow, Jamie Lindsey, Jimmy Sue Davis, and Jean Hopper, and her beloved husband of 61 years, Walter Burnett. She and Walter enjoyed their many trips across the United States, particularly Alaska and Hawaii. Margaret was a long time member of Eudora Baptist Church. She worked for Western Auto and retried as a clerk typist for a prominent CPA firm in Memphis. Margaret had a servant's heart; therefore, she volunteered for 22 years at St. Francis Hospital. She leaves behind her two daughters, Ann Collins (Mike), and Susan Melone (Steve); two sisters, Sally Thomas and Claire Hanover; a granddaughter, whom she treated as a daughter, Melanie Knight (David); a grandson, Nathan Melone; two great grandchildren, Taylor and Avery Knight. She leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. A visitation/celebration of life will be held Saturday, September 3, 2016, at 11 am at Christ United Methodist Church, 4488 Poplar Avenue. In accordance to her wishes, her cremains will be distributed at special place at Pickwick. In lieu of flowers, the family request that Memorial Contributions be made to LeBonheur Children's Hospital Foundation, P.O. Box 41817 Memphis, TN 38174.
