Mrs. Garrett, the last of seven children to Glenn and Stella Wright, was proceeded in death by her mother Stella Wright, her father Glenn Orville Wright, SR., her husband Lesley N Garrett, her sisters Lucille Farley, Jean Cicalla, and Juanita Draper, and brothers Sonny Wright, Glenn Wright, JR. and Raymond Wright.
Mrs. Garrett is survived by her daughters Donna Bayer and Rita McConnico of Memphis, and a son James Garrett of Chattanooga. She leaves behind 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 1 great great-grandchild and 2 great great-grandchildren are on the way. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews spanning the reach of three generations.
Mrs. Garrett married the man of her dreams and the love of her life, Lesley, in 1951. Lesley and Marguerita were married for 52 wonderful years.
Mrs. Garrett had a lasting career that started during the early part of her marriage to Lesley. Mrs. Garrett worked during the day and went to school at night, graduating in 1953. Marguerita became an Accountant for some notable companies in Memphis TN. Mrs. Garrett worked for: I-Rosens Men’s Clothing store for 30 years, Century 21- Coletta & Associates for 8 Years, Binswanger Glass-Vitro America for 20 years and retired in 2012 at the age of 76. After retiring from fulltime employment, Mrs. Garrett worked part time for Richard Binswanger as a book keeper for 10 Years retiring at age 86.
Mrs. Garrett was a member of Gateway Bible Baptist Church Memphis, where she faithfully attended church for the last 25 years.
In recent years, Mrs. Garrett spent many days experiencing good and bad moments, but now she is in the presence of Jesus Christ for all eternity. Praise Jesus Mrs. Garrett no longer suffers dementia and or any other health problems.
Services for Mrs. Garrett will be held Friday, March 1st, 2024, at Family Funeral Care - 4925 Summer Ave, Memphis, TN 38122. Public Viewing will begin at 1PM and the Funeral service will begin at 2PM. A graveside service will follow at Memory Gardens, Raleigh LaGrange.
