Mark Modesitt Brutus Ihrie never met a stranger. Brutus had a larger than life personality with a passion for sports, always cheering on his favorite teams the Memphis Tigers, the Florida State Seminoles, the Arkansas Razorbacks and the Tennessee Titans. Brutus was known as a festive storyteller while enjoying a cold one. His enigmatic personality coupled with his quick wit provided a gateway for many magnificent life adventures. Brutus will be remembered as a loyal friend with a vivacious spirit. He was a doting father to McKenzie, the apple of his eye. She was his pride and joy as well as his greatest accomplishment in life.
Brutus enjoyed a successful varsity football career at Christian Brothers High School where he served as the 1989 Class President. After high school he turned his football knowledge into coaching. He was instrumental in forming the Cordova Eagles as part of the Shelby Youth Sports league. He coached the Eagles for 8 years then moved on to the Houston Mustang 8th grade team for an additional 3 years.
A Celebration of Brutus' life will be October 2, 2021 at Coletta's, 2850 Appling Road, Memphis from 2:00-4:30 pm. You are asked to bring your best Brutus story or memory to share.
