Martha Sue was Salutatorian of McKenzie High School and a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin. She was a retired Medical Technologist with Methodist and Saint Francis hospitals. She resided in Germantown, Tennessee for over fifty years, where she was known by neighbors for her passion for her family, her caring nature, her love of animals, and her endearing devotion to her granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Lydon Ledger, Jr., daughter Janet Marie Ledger, parents Troy and Louise Carlisle, twin sister Mary Lou Hayes, and brothers-in-law Joe Hayes and Buz Wesson. She is survived by her son Alan Ledger (Cindi), granddaughter Lauren Ledger, and sister June Wesson.
Visitation will be held at Memphis Funeral Home on Friday, November 1, 2024, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be held at Memphis Funeral Home at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 2, 2024, with the interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family requests that memorials be sent to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County.
