Martha Jane Madewell (Janie) lived a rich life full of love as a wife, mother, and grandmother. Janie gained her angel wings on December 16th, 2020 at the age of 67 years old.

Martha Jane Madewell was born February 1, 1953 in Jackson, TN. Janie married the love of her life, Aubrey Willard Madewell Jr. (Speedy), on December 19, 1980. Together they raised their family in Memphis, TN. Janie and Speedy were married for 34 years before Aubrey passed away in 2014. Janie was devoted to her family and raising her two children, Justin (Rebecca) Madewell and Jessica (Ryan) Jones both of Madison, MS. Janie’s pride was with her five grandchildren, Aiden, Hailey, Caleb, Riley, and Walker.

Janie loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed celebrating any holiday, especially Christmas. She loved shopping, decorating, and bringing smiles to anyone’s face. She had the gift of giving and always wanted to make sure everyone was happy. Her favorite thing was watching the grandkids have fun fishing in her backyard, riding on the boat, watching them play soccer, and going to all the school functions. She enjoyed traveling with her family and more recently her sister. She was able to visit many places around the world, but Alaska was very near to Janie and Speedy’s heart. She was an amazing wife, mother, and grandmother and will be dearly missed by all.

Janie is preceded in death by her mother, Helen McClendon; father, James Thomas; husband, Aubrey Madewell Jr. (Speedy). She is survived by her brothers, Tommy (Joan) McClendon of Austin, TX, Bill (Trudy) McClendon of Wilson, OK; her sister Ann Ripley of Memphis,TN; her son, Justin (Rebecca) Madewell of Madison, MS; and daughter Jessica (Ryan) Jones of Madison, MS.

I had the pleasure of working with Janie before she retired in 2003. As I have stated before she was truly a remarkable woman who simply lived life to the fullest. You would have enjoyed working with or just being around Janie. I will keep the family uplifted in prayer. RIP Martha J Madewell, affectionately known as Janie.
