

Mary McKenna Buckner (MawMaw), 87, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, died October 3rd after a short illness. Mrs. Buckner was widely recognized as a national leader in childhood Christian education. She traveled to over 33 states with the Southern Baptist Convention and led various workshops. She was an active member of Bellevue Baptist Church and enjoyed teaching Vacation Bible School for many years. Mary touched many lives in her 60 plus years of ministry at several local Baptist churches and will be missed by all. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Bernard Buckner, Jr., and her son, Charles (Bucky) Bernard Buckner, III. She leaves three daughters: Cathy Siler (Russ) of Atlanta, Anne McCord (Randall) of Memphis and Lisa Graves (Thomas) of Hernando, MS; a son: Ken Buckner (Jennifer) of Bartlett; and her sister Edythe Freeouf of Bartlett. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 6, 2013 from 3-5 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 7 all services will be held at Memphis Funeral Home on Poplar Ave. Burial will follow in Memphis Memory Gardens.
