Mary was born in Memphis, Tennessee on February 3, 1930 born to the late Harry & Helen Messina. She was one of six siblings in a big Italian family, whom she loved fiercely.
She graduated from St. Agnes Academy and was a lifelong homemaker. She met her husband early, Louis Pieraccini, whom she married on Valentine's Day.
Mary "MayMay" was a lifelong parishioner of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and was awarded the Volunteer of the Year award for her many acts of service over the years. In her younger days she was an avid bowler, fantastic cook, and loved having her family over for a good Italian meal. She always put her family first and was deeply devoted to them. Mary’s fiery personality was loved by all and her presence lit up a room.
Beside her parents and husband, Mary was also preceded in death by her sister Rose "RoRo" Ferrante, Frances "Peanut" Peacock, and her brother Frank "Popeye" Messina.
She is survived by her only son Andy (Jo Ann) Pieraccini of Arlington, Tennessee; granddaughter Brittany Pieraccini (Daniel), grandson Drew Pieraccini (Samantha) and her great-grandson Dylan; brother Johnny "Stuff" Messina; sister Connie Wheeler; along with a host of nieces, nephews and many loved cousins. Also her dearest and longest friend Bonnie Pittz.
Family and friends will gather for a memorial gathering on Friday, September 15 beginning at ten o'clock until funeral mass begins at eleven o'clock all at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 4851 Park Avenue, Memphis, TN 38117. A reception and celebration of her life will be held in the family room of the church immediately following mass.
