March 18, 1931May 5, 2019

Melvin Louis daLomba, sweetheart & husband of Beverly “Sheilaa” Skinner daLomba for almost 70 years passed away with her at his side, Sunday May 5th.

Mel was simply the best son, husband, father, brother, uncle and friend to all. Hardworking, honest and a man’s man, kindness and encouragement were his nature.

His strength and perseverance kept him fighting to the end, with love and a smile.

Retired from Western Union and former owner of Spartanian Spa, Mel trained hundreds of young men; many who still called upon him for help into his advanced years.

Proud of his Portuguese heritage and his US childhood home in Sacramento, CA, his many trips home with family in tow were always full of the best education and is the foundation for many of our treasured memories with him.

A true Renaissance man, Mel was famous for his sweetness and selflessness, and always with a smile. He was a gifted artist, cook, musician and most notably body builder and runner.

A devout Catholic, Brothers Boy he skipped 2 grades- the keenest of minds.

Above all, he was our rock and our compass in this world.

“Any man can be a father, only the select few earn the privilege of being called Daddy”

He leaves a legacy of love to his sweetheart and wife of almost 70 years, Beverly “Sheilaa” daLomba, sons Juan and Kevin and daughters Margretta “Angel” daLomba Dobbs, Rose and Iris Carmel daLomba (deceased), his sister Rosemary Espinosa, 6 Grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
