Michelle Thompson Tong, 64, was called home by the Lord on June 8, 2026. Born on September 7, 1961. Michelle will be remembered for her unwavering faith, generous and compassionate heart, and a joyful spirit of adventure that touched everyone who knew her.
Michelle attended St. Paul the Apostle Catholic School in Whitehaven and later Bishop Byrne High School, where she met the love of her life 47 years ago. She then studied Business Management at Memphis State University.
She began her career as a manager at Record Bar at the Mall of Memphis and later at Blockbuster Music. These roles gave her the opportunity to attend and often be backstage at concerts in the height of the hair band era. From Van Halen to Bon Jovi, and Motley Crue to Fleetwood Mac, she carried those memories and stories with her for years to come.
In the years that followed, she devoted herself wholeheartedly to the children and families at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School as a Mother’s Day Out teacher assistant. For over 20 years, she lovingly cared for and nurtured hundreds of children, leaving a lasting impact on each family she encountered.
Outside her work, Michelle found great joy in spending time with her family and friends. She especially cherished annual trips to Gulf Shores with her best friends and making magical memories at Disney World with her family – moments filled with laughter and love that will be cherished forever.
Michelle is survived by her devoted husband of 33 years, Phillip Tong; her beloved children, Lindsey Sisneros (Tim) and Rachel Tong; and her cherished granddaughter, Daphne Sisneros, who brought her immeasurable joy during her final months. She is also survived by her sister, Andrea Benjamin (Robert); her brother, Drew Thompson; her nephew, David Benjamin; and niece, Cathy Taylor (Shawn).
She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Thompson and Edd Nelle Lindsey Thompson.
Michelle will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her kind heart, her genuine and radiant smile, and the love she so freely gave to others. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched and the family she loved so dearly.
