Mr. Toombs is predeceased by his wife, the late Martha Ellen Jones. He leaves two children: Rebecca E. Grandgeorge of Portland, OR, Daniel C. Toombs (Judy) of Maryville, TN, and his long-time companion Xiao Li Xia. Others left to celebrate his memory are two grandchildren, Russell Grandgeorge (Lisa) of Portland, OR; and Catherine Grandgeorge of Chicago, IL; two great-grandchildren, Holly and Lily Grandgeorge; and many friends.
After a 45-year career in sales, Mr. Toombs retired as President of Memphis Equipment Company and he enjoyed many happy years playing golf on Audubon City Golf Course.
Family and friends will gather on Tuesday, Feb. 21, from 12:30-2:00 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave., Memphis, TN, 38119.
The family requests that memorials be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Methodist Hospice & Palliative Care, or charity of choice.
