

Nancy Ann Ward Bromley, 75, passed away peacefully at her daughter's house in Memphis, Tennessee, on September 11, 2026. She was born in Maury City, Tennessee, on December 14, 1950, to James Durwood Ward, Sr. and Nancy Carolyn (Jetton) Ward.
The second of three children, Nancy Ann was a great help to her mother, often cooking for the entire family while her mother worked. This was the beginning of Nancy Ann's lifelong love of cooking and her passion for feeding the people she loved. She was an amazing cook.
Nancy Ann studied home economics and bookkeeping at UT Martin and UT Knoxville but ultimately settled in Memphis, Tennessee, after marrying and having two children. She was a fiercely devoted mother and passed on her love of food and music on to her kids.
In adulthood Nancy Ann worked as a waitress, pub owner, bookkeeper, tax preparer and caregiver. In retirement she enjoyed cooking, caring for her cats, listening to her favorite music, and being angry about the current president.
Nancy Ann Ward Bromley was a dutiful and caring daughter, loving mother, and loyal friend to all who loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents and beloved son, James Robert Bromley. She is survived by her daughter Nancy Alice Bromley, her brothers James Durwood Ward, Jr., and Lester Buford Ward, her sister-in-law Edith Ward, nephews James Barton Ward and James Martin Ward, and her precious cats, Tiger and Sweet Pea.
