Nancy D. Ingram

NANCY INGRAM passed away in her home on May 22, 2013 from complications resulting from lung cancer. She was the daughter of Cora and Ellis Burton Dickey and was born on April 20, 1932 in Gastonia, NC. Her father, Ellis, died from cancer three years later and she and her mother moved back to Memphis, where she spent most of her life. Nancy graduated from Central High in 1950. She attended Stephens College, Vanderbilt University, and graduated from Memphis State in 1954. She obtained her Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Tennessee in July 1956. She was a long time member of Scenic Hills United Methodist Church and served as a MIFA Volunteer for over forty years. Nancy is survived by her husband of 49 years, Louis Ingram, two daughters, Lisa McDougald and Julie Dannheim, and her grandson, William Rich, who they raised as their son. She also has six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 25 at Scenic Hills United Methodist Church, 2847 Pembroke. Family and friends are requested to gather at 9 a.m. to celebrate the life of Nancy Ingram. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested for Scenic Hills United Methodist Church or MIFA in her honor. A private burial service will be at the family plot at Elmwood Cemetery where she will be buried near her mother and father.
