Our beloved mother, sister, and friend, Nancy Hyatt Lannom, passed away June 8, 2026 following a brief illness. While we grieve her loss, we take solace in remembering the warmth, laughter, and love she brought to our lives.
Nancy was born January 15, 1955, in Houston, Texas. She was the fourth of six daughters born to Henry and Lillian Hyatt. In 1970, the family moved to Memphis. Nancy graduated from Central High School in 1974, and attended the University of Memphis. Although she had studied to be a teacher, Nancy’s true calling was to be a wife and mother. In 1977, she married the love of her life, Michael “Big Mike” Lannom. In the years that followed, Nancy and Mike raised three children in a busy, outgoing household. They had a wide social circle, and frequently hosted backyard cookouts, fish fries, and get-togethers. Friends and family also shared vacations, weekend getaways, and holiday celebrations.
Nancy filled her life with good people, good music, and good stories. She was known for carrying at least one novel in her purse at all times, and bringing heaps of books, movies, and music on every road trip. She had a lifelong passion for space exploration, avidly following NASA news from the first Moon landing to Artemis II. And she enjoyed several hobbies throughout her life, including sewing, quilting, paper crafts, and gardening.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Lillian Aquadro Hyatt and Henry Wilson Hyatt, her husband of 30 years, Michael Anthony Lannom, and her sisters, Linda Marie Hyatt and Janice Louise Hyatt. She is survived by her children, Michael Bosman Lannom, Sean Edward Lannom, and Anna Marie Lannom; her granddaughters Calista Dinkins, Hadley Lannom, Amelia Lannom, and Violet Lannom; her sisters Donna Hyatt, Deborah Hyatt, and Jennifer Hyatt, and many more loved ones, including Sean’s partner Megan Hasty, Hadley’s mother Kelsey Lannom, and Nancy’s best friend Robin Wiles.
A memorial gathering for Nancy Hyatt Lannom will be held Monday, June 15, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Ave, Memphis, TN 38122.
