Mrs. Mitchell, a graduate of Treadwell High School, was a majorette during her high school years winning many titles and awards and later became a well- known baton twirling teacher and NBTA judge.
She attended Hope Presbyterian Church and was active in several local and national organizations. Her passions were her family, baton twirling and business. She took great pride in her daughter’s and son’s families. Nancy spent many hours attending her grandchildren’s school events and games. Another passion was traveling with her husband of over 50 years, Larry. The two of them shared adventures in Hawaii, China, Italy, Egypt, Turkey, Spain, Australia, New Zealand and Greece. Larry and Nancy also enjoyed spending time with their family and friends at their lake house on Kentucky Lake. Today, would have been their 55 wedding anniversary.
It was this adventurous heart that led Mrs. Mitchell to business ownership. She purchased her first Pak Mail store in 1987 and quickly established a thriving business due to her determination and hard work. Her reputation as a top franchisee allowed her to rise to the rank of Area Developer, a position she recently retired from.
Survivors include husband Larry: daughter Laurie Humphreys, son James Larry Mitchell, Jr., brother Jim Raynor, and 3 grandchildren, John Warren, Ginni, and AnnaGrace.
A family friend quoted, “She was always so full of spunk and energy. I'll always remember her sweet smile and lovely southern charm!”
