Nola V Allison at 102 was received into the hands of her loving heavenly Father on Monday, January 28, 2013. Born in Union City and raised in Memphis from the age of seven, she was one of three daughters of Hirum and Mary Erwin, who all preceded her in death. Nola V was most grateful for the love and companionship she shared with her husband, Leroy Allison, until his death in 1983. For more than fifty years she served with acumen and alacrity at the Cooper Company, earning the respect of her peers and superiors alike for the exemplary quality of her work; she embarked upon a much deserved retirement at the age of ninety-five. Her entire family and host of friends consider themselves very blessed for having her in their lives as she was a wonderful honorary mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to many. She was an active member of society, participating in her church and community organizations and cheering on her beloved University of Memphis Tigers. She is survived by her two devoted adopted daughters, Nancy Harris Patrick Reed and Sylvia Harris Kendall. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 31st from 5-8 pm at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens on Poplar. Funeral services will be Friday, February 1st at 2pm at the funeral home as well. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family would like to give special thanks to her Memphis family, Gallatin cousins, and Methodist home-health and hospice caregivers.
