Norma Ray Waterbury was born July 21st, 1932 to Aubrey and Sadie Cox of McNary county. She went home to Jesus on June the 18th, 2023, at the age of 90. She loved the Lord and it showed through her smile, attitude, and actions everyday. She was always positive and encouraging.
She married Barney Waterbury, her husband of 48 years, on February the 7th, 1947, in front of a night-gowned, and night-capped Justice of the Peace in Hernando Mississippi (who charged them five extra dollars for waking him up in the "middle of the night").
She and Barney loved to take motorcycle trips on daddy's Harley. Family was so important to them. Summer Saturdays were spent camping and skiing at Arkabutla lake. Sundays were family time and church, and a good time was to be had by all "whether you liked it or not".
Norma was a gifted seamstress and quilter. She never sat down without a crochet hook, knitting needles, or needle and thread in her hands. She made sure that every grandchild had a quilt. No machine quilting for her. Every tiny stitch was hand sewn with love.
Her journey through life was certainly not trouble free, but she met every hill and valley with the same strength and grace she showed everyone she met. Her home going was not easy, but we know her arrival was glorious. She has left us with a challenge to love each other, be kind, forgiving, helpful, giving, and to let Jesus shine through us.
At her request, the family will honor her with a private gathering.
She is survived by 4 children, 7 grand children, 11 great grand children, and 1 brother.
She has requested that memorials should be made to Leawood Baptist (Macon), Ellendale Baptist, or St Jude Children's hospital.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.FamilyFuneralMemphis.com for the Waterbury family.
