Oma Marler, 88, of Olive Branch, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at home after a long battle with Alzheimer's on April 5, 2018. Oma was born May 12, 1929 in Clarksdale, Mississippi to the late Claude Gibson and Oma Ellison Steele. She was a graduate of Clarksdale High School and attended Mississippi University for Women. Oma was a successful real estate broker with her own agency, Andrews Realty, later working with her son until her retirement in 1999. She was an avid seamstress, gardener, and water-skier. She enjoyed square-dancing, loved being with children, and Bible study. She was a long-time member of Independent Presbyterian Church and a former Deacon and Elder at Whitehaven Presbyterian Church. Oma was spunky, vivacious, and a very happy, elegant lady. She was preceded in death by son, Hudson Andrews; her siblings, Janie Callicott and Claude Steele, Jr. She is survived by her son, David Andrews (Maryanne); her other children, Angela Goza, Sherre Freeman (Wayne), and Doug Marler; her grandchildren, Trey Andrews (Rachel), Amy Murphy (Chris), Heather Mullins (Justin), and Dave Hogue (Rachel); four great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. The family wishes to share their eternal thanks to the stellar caregiving team of Rutha, Vonn, Dot, and Mary that enabled Mrs. Marler to spend her last days at home with her son, David. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 6 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee. A funeral service will be held at the same location on Saturday, April 7 at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Clarksdale, Mississippi.
