Otto Oather Agent

Otto Agent, 96, of Memphis, beloved father, went to be with his Lord and Savior on/ passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at 12:55 p.m. Otto was born in Philadelphia, MS to Clearance and Texie Stuart Agent on September 20, 1914. In his youth, he was a builder in the Memphis area where he built many houses with the assistance of his brothers. He also was a steel worker and plant Foreman who worked 24 years at USS Steel, formerly American Bridge, until it closed. He then went to work at Pigeon Thomas until he retired at age 70. Once retired he devoted himself to his family, his faith, his garden, and travels. He was the oldest living member of Rugby Hills Baptist Church where he was an active member since 1948. As a church member he assisted in constructing the existing church buildings during the church's time of extreme growth. He was also a member of OddFellows. His willingness to serve, share, and find ways to positively impact those around him was inspirational and his life was a record of service to family and others. He possessed a great sense of humor with a twinkle in his eye and was an extraordinary gentleman. He was an avid life-long gardener and always had a hot meal waiting for any who came to his home. He was a loving father, husband, and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He had 11 siblings and is surviving by Paul (Faye) Agent, Darrell (DorothyMac) Agent, Nordell McCullouch, and Bobby (Virginia) Singletary. He is preceded in death by his spouse, Gladys Agent, of 51 years. He was a loving father to Richard (Jo) Agent, Clydie (Jim) Freeman, Helen Blair, and Doug (Patti) Ivy. His legacy lives on with his 14 grandchildren, 27 Great Grandchildren, and 14 Great-Great Grandchildren as well as many other family and friends.
