Rev. Michael E. Tullos, age 72, passed away on August 19, 2019 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. A man of God, beloved by many, Michael was most often known simply as “Pastor.” As a young man, Pastor began his lifelong journey of ministering to others in his hometown of Camden, Arkansas. Over the years, he would go on to invest his heart, time, and generous spirit into the lives of people God placed in his path, both inside and outside of the church walls in Arkansas, as well as Missouri and Tennessee. One of Pastor’s greatest gifts was an ability to join hands with others, no matter where they might have been on their life’s journey. From loving and supporting missionaries across the globe to offering a simple word of encouragement or a listening ear, Pastor was a man who deeply loved serving others. He was honored to be invited into the lives of those he encountered and humbly walked alongside those God entrusted into his care through moments of great sorrow and into times of great joy. He knew firsthand of the hope to be found in Jesus, and spent his life shepherding hearts toward that same hope.

In 1967, Michael was joined in life and ministry by his beloved wife, Linda. Together, they served the Lord and spent many happy years building their life and family. One of their shared loves was time spent outdoors gardening and appreciating the beauty of God’s creation. Michael cherished being a husband and delighted in his time spent with Linda and eventually with their two children, Chris and Christy. Michael embraced fatherhood and especially loved time spent traveling together as a family. Later in life, Michael gained yet another name as he was blessed with two granddaughters; he became a very proud Poppi. He always eagerly anticipated time spent with McKenzie and Berkley. Much like his garden, Michael carefully tended to the hearts of his family and they are each left knowing how deeply they are loved by both him and by Jesus; of all the many seeds Michael planted in his lifetime, it was the growth of those planted within the hearts of his family that brought Michael his deepest joy.

Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Louise Word and his father, Joe Tullos. He is survived by his wife, Linda, his daughter, Christy Chipps (Chris), his son, Chris Tullos (Libba) and his granddaughters, McKenzie and Berkley Tullos.

When I was 5 years (43 now), I remember going to church when it was in Whitehaven... Pastor Tullos always had a pack of bubble gum for me and my sister.... I remember one Christmas our family couldn't afford anything the church got together and packed a uhaul with food ,clothes, and toys for us... This was so long ago but the very fond memories are still there. I have never found a church like that one. I am saddened to find that I just found out that he pasted away last month. Another memorable moment was went the children came into big church with their parents and there was a man that had a blue jean jacket on had hate words written all over it... Pastor Tullos just broke down and cried... I was very young but that was the time I felt the Holy Spirit thur my own body... I have never experienced this in any other church... God Bless his family!

Pastor Tullos was my Pastor at Whitehaven Assembly of God when I started attending in 1986. I got saved and started to grow in my walk with God. So many wonderful memories there. He was such an awesome preacher and teacher. He was a very kind and loving man and you knew that he loved Jesus with all his heart. I thank God for the opportunity to have known him and his family.
I will always consider him my Pastor. He will be greatly missed.

One of best memories of Pastor Tullos is how approachable he was. I have fond memories of randomly dropping by his office and visiting with him. One time I even dropped in at his house and he welcomed me in. He afforded me the time that is rarely seen in this day and age.

It was under his leadership that I learned about true servant leadership before it was even a buzzword. He led with humility and a heart full of love. Both he and Linda exemplified a true pastoral heart. I never heard him talk about the numbers, he only spoke of friends.

It has been such a blessing to reconnect with Pastor again over the past couple of years. He was still concerned about souls and still looking to the future.

The world is a little better place for the journey that Pastor shared with so many. He will be missed.

One of the last conversations I had with him wasn't long. He simply told me he loved me. He always had a kind and loving word for me and he will forever be my Pastor. Thank you Pastor for helping to guide me to our Savior. I would not be the man I am today if it weren't for men like you who loved God and loved people. Linda, Christy, and Chris, you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Our Dearest Pastor Tullos,
You have impacted so many lives and families with the love of the Lord, including mine. I am forever grateful for your shepard's heart, your Godly wisdom and knowledge of the Word, which you so freely shared to all you came in contact with. You gave me a foundation in God that has saved me, sustained me and enabled me to overcome adversities and the disappointments life brings. The love you gave, the seeds you've sown, and the prayers you've prayed, will continue to minister on. I know the gates were crowded with so many friends and family to welcome you into Heaven and I know my sweet Moma was among them. You know she loved you so. Such a glad reunion you're having as your faith is now made sight and you are in the presence of our Lord healed and whole. You are home. Until we join you there, you remain forever in our hearts. ❤ Tina Wright
