Patrick Lewis Murphy, Jr., age 79, of Bartlett, Tennessee passed away on Friday, July 2, 2021. Patrick was born in Memphis, TN on May 13, 1942. He was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick Lewis Murphy, Sr. and Effie Wilma Jones; his brothers, Mike and Charles Murphy.
Pat graduated from White Haven High School (class of 1960) and afterwards attended Memphis State University. He met his current wife, Paula Gean in 1982 and married her in 1986. They celebrated their 35th Anniversary on March 1st of this year. He was in the electric motor business for over 50 years and owner of Drive Products, Inc. for the past 30 years. Pat loved fishing, fishing and more fishing whenever he got a chance. He enjoyed playing the guitar with his cousin Richard, bringing joy to others by performing at a local retirement community, organizing family sing-a-longs at his home, listening to 50's music, cars and delighting in all things 50's. Pat was known for endless storytelling about growing up during the 50's with his brother and best friend, Mike.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 35 years, Paula Murphy; one sister, Carol Murphy (partner Sheila Nelson); one son, Keith Murphy (Patricia); one grand daughter, Lauren Murphy- Hanks (Bradley) and one niece, Kelly Hawkins (Russell).
The family will receive friends along with a catered reception on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 from 10 AM until 11:00 AM followed by a Celebration of his life at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Av Memphis, TN 38122. The committal service will be held at Forest Hill Midtown, 1661 Elvis Presley Blvd., Memphis, TN 38106.
