Patricia Lee Brown Ferguson of Memphis, TN passed away on Monday, August 3, 2020 due to medical complications from a recent, short illness. Pat was born in Albany, New York on November 3, 1942. She married Steve Ferguson in 1964.
Pat was predeceased by her husband, Steven E. Ferguson; her parents, Harold and Marjorie Brown; her sister, Donna J. Wingate and her brother, Barry J. Brown.
Pat had dance studios in New York, Chicago and Ohio and was a member of the Radio City Rockettes in the summer of 1964. Steve and Pat moved their family to Memphis in 1978 and at that time, Pat opened Miss Pat’s School of Dance. Her biggest passion was teaching dance, which she did for 55 years until her retirement last year.
She loved her friends and all of the special relationships and memories made throughout the years. She was funny and always the life of the party. She was often referred to as “Lucille Ball” which fit her perfectly. Most importantly, she loved her family. She was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and aunt. She cherished the time she spent with her family, especially when everyone was together in Lake George. Pat was strong in her faith. She was a parishioner of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Olive Branch, MS and over the last year attended St. Louis Catholic Church in Memphis, TN.
She is survived by her children, Tracy L. Whitley (Thomas) and Tammy L. Carlock (Collin); grandchildren, Collin Reid Carlock, II and Chloe Elizabeth Carlock, all of Memphis, TN; her nieces, Sheri Lyons and Jill Walsh of New York, Stacy Giles and Candy Brown of Florida and one nephew, Darren Brown of Massachusetts.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to multiple myeloma research, a charity very dear to Pat, in honor of her sister, Donna Wingate or to a charity of your choice.
