Birdie was preceded in death by her husband Paul R. Mitchell and her youngest son, Francis Mitchell. She leaves behind 7 children, Paul Mitchell (Jan), David Mitchell, Trish Hardy, Maureen Bagwell, Marilyn Mitchell, Margaret Pennington (Noel), Michael Mitchell (Mishelle), 14 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 5 great, great grandchildren.
Birdie was blessed with a beautiful voice and she loved to sing. In high school, she sang on the radio with Young America Sings and Bob Hope. She sang and whistled her way through life.
Birdie had a love for golf and would be on the course any chance she got. She was a member of the Golden Girls Golf Association and got a hole-in-one at the age of 85 at the Greens of Irene.
A pre-nuptial agreement to marry Paul was to become a die-hard Notre Dame football fan. With many memorable trips to cheer on the Irish to victory, Birdie honored that agreement even into her last days.
She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but we rejoice as she was welcomed into the Kingdom of God.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Paige Robbins Adult Day Care Center, Collierville, TN.
