Patricia G. (Pat) Westland, 92, wife of the former G.A. (Al) Westland, mother of George and Stuart Westland passed away on May 27th 2021. Pat grew up in Chaffee, MO. She was the daughter of Armon and Elena Peer of Chaffee. Pat attended EMO college in Cape Girardeau, Mo. She worked in Gainesville, FL where she lived close by to her brother, Gene Peer, and his children. She lived there for a few years and returned to Chaffee where she met Al, who owned the weekly newspaper Jimplicute in Illmo, MO. They were married in June 1953. Pat and Al later bought the weekly newspaper, Oran News, and also started the weekly Chaffee Leader paper. They sold the papers in 1957 and moved to Memphis, where Al joined the faculty at the University of Memphis. Their son, George, was born during this transition. In 1959 they became parents again to twins, Gerene Kay and William Stuart. With great sadness, Gerene passed away soon after birth. Al and Pat worked together on many projects during their marriage. Some of their favorite activities were to attend yearly homecoming at University of Missouri. They were faithful Mizzou Tiger fans. They also loved hosting an annual "Bloody Mary" Party on New Year's Day for their friends. Pat enjoyed volunteering at the Brooks Memorial Art Gallery. She served as docent for 30 years and became an active member of the Brooks Museum League, serving as chairman of the " Decorators Show house" in the year 2000.
